Dear Alumni and Friends
Welcome, or welcome back, to our Department! If you have watched the slide show on our front page you know that we are still at home in many national languages and cultures, some of which you may have been able to identify as the photos flowed by—Bosnia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine. We welcome you back virtually to every page that flows by on our front page.
We look forward to staying in touch with you and we would be grateful if you could enter or update your contact information so that we can contact you periodically via email with news about what is happening in the “Here and Now” of the Department. This coming year, for example, we are sponsoring or co-sponsoring two major conferences, one on Language and Identity in Central Asia, and a second on Literature and Liturgy in the Russian Tradition. A round of lectures on the Russian-Armenian avant-garde is also in the works, as well our traditional February Workshop on East Slavic history, letters and culture.
